Many of the most recent posts here on the QSLiN.org blog have been about digital resources, makerspaces and school library ideas.  I thought it might be fun to get back to the books!  The Guardian just posted some suggestions for fantastic YA novels, fantastic enough that adults should read them.  Now I know that most of my colleagues get their acquisition lists from such reputable sources as School Library Journal and the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, but here’s one that you might have missed, The Guardian from the U.K.:  The eight best young adult books – and why grownups should read them, too

No surprise – Neil Gaiman is on the list!  More specifically, The Graveyard Book is on the list.  Gaiman has been spooking children, teens and adults for years now and delighting all three groups with his inventive stories. The list also includes the usual coming-of-age stories, teen-with-cancer, and wilderness survival among others.

It’s always fun to see Best Of lists from across the pond so check out this list of crossover books that students, teachers and library staff will enjoy.
