This year, for the twelfth year in a row, the QSLiN Library Symposium is offering a professional development opportunity for school library personnel in the English Sector of Quebec (both the public and private sectors). In addition to school library personnel, our educational partners (including educational consultants, school and board-level administrators, etc.) are also invited to take part.

This year’s theme is “Creating Thinking Readers”.

Date: Thursday March 19, 2020

Location: Sandman Hotel,

6700 Trans Canada,

Longueuil, QC

J4K 2T1

This year’s keynotes will be Hugo Rodrigues (Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec) talking about what journalists are doing to help fight fake news, and noted Canadian author Eric Walters on Inspiring Students to Read, Write and Create.

Other sessions include one by the NFB/ONF; Bibliopresto on the upcoming Biblius eBook platform for all Quebec schools; a session on blending traditional story-time with robotics; and, on finding books that help support the Sexuality Education program.

As always, there will be presentations by a local bookstore, as well as by local Quebec library personnel and their educational partners, showcasing ways in which Quebec school libraries, and their personnel, can use new methods and technology to offer more modern services and improve collaboration.
