This film shows the excitement of students, parents, teachers and the principal at the opening of their new library learning commons.  It is apparent that project based learning is very much a part of the curriculum at Douglasdale Elementary School in Calgary.  The principal in this film recognizes that students are using libraries very differently from his generation and he talks about how the new LLC supports learning. He also describes how the LLC was funded and the process of turning the traditional school library into a learning commons.

Teachers talk about how they use the LLC with their classes and how they appreciate the extra space to do the kinds of projects that they can’t do in their classrooms.  Most of all, the students are excited at all the engaging activities taking place in the library learning commons. This really is a story with a happy ending.
