Coding to Learn in the Library

Block C Session 1:10 – 2:10 PM

It’s been said that code is the new literacy, but what exactly is code? Come find out at this hands on session.  Participants will learn the rudiments of computer programming under the guidance of the Montreal non-profit Kids Code Jeunesse and Code Club Canada. The session will also include a short overview of proven resources that are currently being used in both Montreal schools and libraries. It is recommended that you bring your own laptop.

 

Bios:

Dannielle Dyson

Dannielle Dyson is the former National Program Manager for Code Club Canada that launched projects like Astro Pi and Moonhack in 2017. She founded the Montreal Mini Maker Faire in 2012 as she loves building workshops for kids to tinker. She is a currently a Project Manager at Kids Code Jeunesse focusing on physical coding.

 

 

 

Juliet Waters

Juliet Waters is Senior Director of Education at KidsCodeJeunesse. She brings twenty years of communications and journalism experience to her passion for building digital communities of practice. She has been bringing code to classrooms and training librarians and teachers across Canada since 2014.
