Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 1.34.36 PMLists, lists, and more lists. I keep saying that we librarian love lists.   Edutopia provides a hyperlinked annotated filmography of films that talks about the importance of school libraries in Five Minute Film Festival: Reimagining the Library.

The article goes from the general to the specific in its coverage of school libraries, with all the potential that library learning commons can provide for our students. Some of the films show activities in specific school libraries that can be used as a model. Edutopia has published this list as April is School Library Month:

April 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of School Library Month. As our libraries evolve in the age of digital information, they need our help more than ever to stay well-funded and supported so they can grow in their critical role as advocates of technology and information literacy. Should they become learning commons, gathering places for trading information, technology hotspots, makerspaces, or all of the above? The possibilities are wide open, as you’ll see in this playlist of videos about the future of libraries.

This list can be an important tool in advocating for thriving, busy, library learning commons in our schools.  We do need that help to stay well-funded and supported so have a look at the films and see how you can use them to advocate for school libraries.
