Finding books that promote equality and inclusion can often be a daunting task, the Centre Filles of the Québec City YWCA has created a tool to help you out. They have just launched an online directory, Kaléidoscope, featuring titles “en français” for kids from 0 to 12 years old that covers just this subject.

The books can be searched by age group, or by themes such as body image, gender equality, cultural or family diversity, etc.

As with a kaleidoscope which lets you see the world in many guises, the Québec YWCA created a directory of exemplary titles that will both encourage a healthy dialogue and present positive characters and situations.

To find out more about the why and the wherefore of Kaléidoscope, read the informative article form the February 26, 2016 edition of Le Devoir: Un outil pour trouver des livres jeunesse sans sexisme and visit www.kaleidoscope.quebec.
