For several years now, Judith Munger, documentation technician at Alexander Galt Regional High School in Lennoxville, Quebec has encouraged reading with a fun reading challenge in which every student receives a prize. Judith spends an entire year approaching businesses and charities to contribute all kinds of small items that students would like. In the spring, the Reading Challenge begins and…well, no spoilers!

Through initiatives like the Reading Challenge, book circulation at her library has quadrupled and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear from Judith that I’ve underestimated that increase! I can tell you that after having had an office in the Galt library, it’s a busy, buzzing place – no matter what Judith has going on. A previous film on the QSLiN Youtube channel shows the Bistro that Judith started as well.

Update:  Judith reports that she served over 400 smoothies last Wednesday as part of the library’s Healthy Selfie Month activities!  She also says that the library is almost at 10,000 book loans for this year.  Judith blogs about her activities at http://agrhs.blogspot.ca/

Judith
Sorry! Good news though, we are almost at our 10,000 book loans for this year.
