Did you know that Feb 1 to 5 was Color Our Collections Week? The colouring craze is all around us, as a trip to your local bookstore will prove. Coloured illustrations are being shared on social media using the hashtag, #ColorOurCollections.

This got me to thinking about those old books we may or may not be discarding. Many of them have black and white illustrations (whose copyright has lapsed). They are just crying out to be copied and offered up as colouring pages. Add a few boxes of coloured pencils and fine line coloured markers, and you have a super affordable activity for your library. You could even go one step further and ask students to make black and white line drawings that could then be collated into your very own library colouring book. (Fundraiser, anyone?)
