This free online magazine is dedicated to architecture  is just the ticket with all the STEAM initiatives going around. Our own CCA (Canadian Centre for Architecture) is one of the partners involved in this initiative; they have a calendar of events and exhibitions that would be a great tie-in to the resources in this e-magazine and are supported by the Culture in the Schools outings program.

Amag is a resource that encourages learning and research in a totally unassuming way. It has an appealing interface that is an invitation to explore the resource. Each article offers extensive information that will guide and inspire librarians and teachers. Free templates for each activity are available to download. The process of each activity is well detailed, whether in words and pictures, or in pictures alone. Architectural concepts are explained in a way that relate to the world children live in.

AMAG is published in several languages including English. It is geared to 5 to 10 year olds, but I am certain that tweens will find lots to interest them and try their hands at. (Do I hear maker-space on a budget?) Their blog is well worth following as it offers additional suggestions and activities.

Go ahead, check it out at http://a-magazine.org/; all you need is a printer, some letter format paper, scissors, tape and glue as well as creativity and a willingness to explore. Tearing, cutting and all out hands-on behaviour is a must!
