For the past 10 years, the Quebec Ministry of Education has conducted the Reading Recognition Awards as a way to:

…recognize the efforts of those who have been effective in promoting reading. From all sectors of the education community, these individuals help young people to develop interests, attitudes and competencies that enable them to use reading not only for their school work, but also to succeed in every sphere of their lives.

As there often is, more than one of the finalist projects involved the collaboration of trained library personnel. Also as is often the case, this year there was also a finalist from the English sector; specifically a project from Philemon Wright High School in the Western Quebec School Board.

Last week the top 12 projects were revealed to the public at the Awards Ceremony at the BAnQ. Each of these top entries from the 2014-2015 school year had a short video made to showcase their project and show how it was influencing students towards becoming life-long readers. You can see each of the videos in the playlist below. I encourage you to take a look at some of these great projects and maybe get some ideas on things you could help start up in your school.
